Chevalian is a well know hydrotheropy centre with an equine spa that has been treating horses with various sorts of injuries since 2004. We have an impressive track record in catering for a wide variety of lower leg injuries and disorders.

The effectiveness of hydrotherapy treatment using equine spas is widely recognised. The unit at Chevalian uses a combination of chilled saline water and air to administer the treatment. The spa is designed to allow the therapy to be given with the minimum of stress to the horses and it is our experience that most horses appear to enjoy their time in the spa.
Tendon injuries, fractures, wounds and postoperative care can all be accommodated, using the equine spa either independently, or to compliment other therapies. However, when used on its own it does provide a non-invasive and drug free approach.
Hydrotherapy or treatment in water, especially seawater, has been a time-honoured therapy for the treatment of injury and inflammation. Cold hosing and the application of ice packs in the early stages of injury are of significant value to the healing process in most cases. Cold Salt Hydrotherapy is used to treat (and prevent) a multitude of injuries in 2°C / 35°F saltwater. The spa has successfully addressed virtually all lower leg injuries. Treatment temperature alone induces a massive rush of blood and circulation which otherwise would not be present. This drug free therapy can be used preventatively to increase mobility and reduce swelling in the limbs before and after competitive events and training.
In addition to the ECB spa, Chevalian has a mobile Zamar machine which allows administers cold and heat therapy. The Zamar machine provides continuous and programmable cold or heat therapy combined with a massage function for the repair and general maintenance of sports horse's legs and many other areas.
Zamar units operate in a similar way to a refrigeration unit but have the capacity to heat as well as cool the area being treated. The machine has safety connectors fitted and if the horse moves away the wraps are instantly disconnected.
Also available to aid equine rehabilitation at Chevalian are a horse walker, solarium and Equissage therapies.
The Chevalian facilities are set in friendly, relaxed, family environment where the needs of each horse are taken into account with tailor-made treatments suggested based on individual needs.
